We took the two hour rugged jeep tour with Smokey and had a very good time. Smokey is knowledgeable on the terrain and history of the area. We are in our 60's and had no problems with the ride. Much better than the Sedona jeep ride we went on last year. Thanks to Apache Trail Tours for an excellent tour.

Frequently Asked Questions

We Hit the Trails, Rain or Shine!

Tours are cancelled only in extreme weather conditions or at the discretion of the Tonto National Forest or Apache Trail Tours.

Our guides are trained professionals who devote themselves to providing you the most educational and entertaining tour experience. Although we strive to provide a safe adventure, there are certain dangers involved that are beyond our control. Each guest will be required to sign an acknowledgement of risk.

A credit card is required to hold your reservation. Tours may be cancelled or rescheduled at no additional charge up to 48 hours prior to tour date/time. There are no refunds for cancellations after that time. Tours rescheduled 24 hours prior to original tour date/time, will incur a $10 fee. Reschedules on original tour date/time will incur a $25 charge. No shows will be charged full fare.

Please check in for your tour 15 minutes prior to departure. Jeeps roll on scheduled departure times. Late arrivals will either miss their tour (for which they are still financially responsible for) or their tour will be shortened by the amount of time they are late.

Where do your tours go?
Our tours explore the Superstition Mountain areas as well as the world famous Apache Trail. Our permitted trails include areas in the Tonto National Forest and Bureau of Land Management territory. We are the only outfitters authorized to off-road here and would love to have you join us on the trails where fierce Apache rode and the gold rush took place in the 1800’s.
What Types Of Tours Do You Have?
We offer rugged off-road 4X4 tours, on-road scenic journeys and gold-panning. Combine types of tours or add a steak dinner at sunset for a unique experience. A picture is worth 1000 words…..being there priceless!
What type of vehicles do you use?

The company’s maiden tours in 1993 were in Jeep CJ’s. As business increased, Commanche pick-ups that would seat more people, were added. All of these original vehicles, now over 35 years old, are still used occasionally. However, the fleet has been enhanced and strengthened with the addition of customized Dodge pickups, a Chevy Blazer, and more. Our focus is not on Jeep, it is on providing comfortable, reliable transportation for your tour. Come hit the trails with us – adventure awaits!

What Do You Learn About On Your Tours?
Your guide will weave the trails and tales of the old west. We specialize in educating our guests about the history and legends, Native lore and culture, desert resources, and the flora and fauna. We take our role as caretakers seriously and are partners in preservation through education with the United States Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management.
Do I Have To Make A Reservation?
Reservations are always recommended to assure availability on the day and time that you would like for your adventure.
My Wife Is Pregnant – Can We Still Go On Tour?

Are Restrooms Available On The Tours?

Do You Go In The Rain?
We run rain or shine. There’s nothing quite like the fragrance of the Arizona desert in the rain. Of course, full refunds will be issued if there is zero visibility or the trails are closed by the forest service.
